Money Wallet Overview and Freebie!

With the new year approaching and new resolutions being made, today I am showing you my new Money Wallet and I have a freebie for you as well!

Several years ago when the Mr, and I were first married we went through the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover classes. if you haven’t read it or heard of it Check out the book on Amazon or your local Library. Check here for the online class that we took. It is offered at churches too so maybe check around in your area to see if its available. It was a great class and really taught us that we had been very careless with our funds in the past. We have worked very very hard to get through the first few baby steps but in resent years we have not been as on top of it as we should. My major personal goal is to get us back on track so that we can purchase a house and a larger vehicle this year.

Last year I was able to snag a small Kikki k planner that was just sitting around not being used so I decided to use it and my silhouette to create a money wallet so that I can stay on top of the finances better. I set myself a challenge to only use what I had in my craft room to get this set up. I used my Silhouette to create a pocket file so that I can separate out my funds and then I also created a register so that I can track my spending. Each category has its own so that I can see where the money is going. My Kikki K has a few pockets so that is where my Debit cards will live. I am not doing away with them as I do pay our major bills online each month (its easier than dragging kids out) as well as my online shopping.

My Categories are Adults, Kids, Pets, Groceries, Gas and Misc. I have a separate budget book that outlines our whole budget and bills to be paid so I Omitted that info from the wallet. I do cross post the due dates into my planner and our wall calendar each week.

I am including the files for my registers and my folders so if you want to create some of your own you can. They will fit a Pocket sized Filofax or small Kikki K. Please do not share the file with anyone. Redirect them here for them. Credit is always appreciated.

Quick and Easy Planner Case Tutorial

Planner Case
While I love my SewAnna Button Designs Fabric Cover for my planner sometimes I just don’t want the bulk or I need something slimmer for in my bag. Being a mommy of (almost) 3 I usually end up with everything under the sun in my bag. Its not practical to just throw it in my bag and go. Solution is this, an Accordion file folder wrap cover.

Accordion folder you don’t mine cutting up.

1/8″ Hole Punch

Planner or Planner covers

  1. Remove the guts from the inside of the folder. you can throw this away or you can use it to make pockets in the inside of the cover if you’d like. (another tutorial for another time)
  2. Lay it as flat as you can and Trace the front cover to the non Flap section on the file. Trace the back cover from about the second crease line down from the flap. Trace the hole marks too!
  3. Cut out the covers and punch your holes. After that is done cut the slits to make the cover interchangeable.
  4. Measure 1.25″ over from the holes and about 3/4″ from top and bottom on the front cover. These are your elastic holes, punch them just like you did the others. Snag elastic from the folder waste and thread it in the holes.
  5. Put it on your planner and Enjoy!
  6. Optional: Dress it up with a monogram or Vinyl decal and Share on IG tagging @SewAnnaButton (thats Me!)
