Project galore.

This week was a work week. I have been designing away on a few new designs. One of which is not quite finished yet. The finished one is a new toddler backpack.  It’s smaller in size to fit perfectly on their little backs.  It will hold necessities easily and has velcro closures for toddler ease of access.

The unfinished is a revision of my former Sooki dress.  Grading up patterns tend to take some time and testing to perfect. I do have a small peak.

The final new project I’ve been working on is with Bones. We have been designing a custom ring wrap for my engagement ring. Since its been 4 years is time I get an actual wedding band.  Pictured is my prototype. This was before final changes and metal casting.

PayBox Review

If you follow me on twitter, you may have noticed some tweets about a Site called PayBox.me I’ve been using the site for about 2 weeks now so I figure that its a good time to give a review.

Overview:
The site is still in its beta testing a developement stage but when completely up and running it will work similar to PayPal. Right now, for signing up as an “Early Bird” member. their giving away free money. You earn $25 for signing up and up to $20 a day just for logging in. Plus $10 for every referral you get.

My Thoughts:
The site is super simple. Upon signing up they didn’t ask for any super personal information. It did make me question how I would get the money that I’m earning but currently you cant do much more than earn, refer, or send/recieve money to another member. I didn’t see the harm in signing up with out giving out my info, I’m earning free money just by logging in to a site and leaving. How much you earn daily depends if you participate in a few simple surveys, or voting on the eventual debit card designs. You can also submit your own card designs. So far over the last 2 weeks with daily logins and a few referrals I’ve made a pretty decent amount.

I recommend checking it out and possibly signing up for it. You don’t really have anything to lose.

Baby Crafty Goodness

I’ve noticed a lack of craft/sewing related posts happening lately. I’m trying very hard to fix that, starting with this post. While the Holidays have taken me away from my sewing machine, I’ve been working on more portable things, I.E. Crocheting baby hats. I’ve made 3 so far. They have been extremely simple. Each one has taken under 2 hours to make. The black and the green one used the Basic Baby Beanie from the blog Inner Child Crochet.
The Pink one, I designed the pattern myself after seeing several baby pictures with a similar style of hat. The pattern and a tutorial will be posted for Tutorial Thursday, so check back for that.

Me Monday: Shocking realization…. A List.

While reading post on The Bump forum, I came to the shocking realization that She-Venom will be here in about 3 months. I’m starting to feel some what unprepared. While yes things are starting to come together, Her room is still in chaos and not finished. The Bedding kind of took a backseat while I was entertaining In-Laws for the Holidays. I plan on getting back to work on that this afternoon after going to the store. Mr. Sailor and I bought a few necessities yesterday. Unfortunately I still have quite a few things I need to get. I’ve tried to update the registry but I have given up. I figure most  of my friends and family read this blog anyways. Plus this list is more for my sanity than anything else. I’m odd, that I need to visually see what I need verses just thinking about it.

Stuff That’s Still Needed
– Clothes in varying sizes.
– Socks
– Hats/ Hair bows and bead bands.
– Crib Sheets (Like 3 or 4 more)
– Changing table pad and covers
– Wash cloths and towels
– DIAPERS (Pack of newborns, box of  1,2, and 3’s ???)
– Pump and milk storage bags
– a few bottles ( Soothies, THIS kind please.) Just in case I need them.
– Car seat ( My mum and Little sister should be purchasing this when the one I want come out.)
– Diaper Champ (pink please)
– Boppy covers (even though I’m going to be making one or 2. I’d still like to have a couple premades.)
– Toys….
– Sling/ Wrap. (I really want a wrap like THIS one.
– Pack N Play (play pen, Black, White or green)

So that’s just the list of things I need. I don’t even want to think about the things that still need to be finish….. that’s a list for another day, er… maybe next week…. seeing that I only have about 12 weeks left… eep!

The Nursery Part One

Firstly, I want to take a quick second to say Hello to all my new Friends (Followers). Thank you for taking time to read my humble little blog and please don’t be shy, I love to interact and chat with all of you.
Now that we’re moved and mostly settled its time to start working on the Lair (Aka. the Nursery). While I’m not planning to paint and go overboard ( As we’ll be PCSing next Oct.). I do plan on making it look as lovely as I can. I went fabric shopping on Black Friday at JoAnn’s thanks to a 20% off coupon, a 50% off coupon, and most things being marked down. I got all of the material I need (as well as some from my stash) to make all the nursery decor.
The Quilt is going to be in various prints and shades of black, grey and whites. I blogged about the pattern I chose not to long ago. Its called “spiderwebs”. Bumpers will be used but I’m making them thinner than normal bumpers. I found Lime and white Houndstooth flannel for $1.25 a yard. So I bought the whole bolt. Its going to be the Inside print to the bumpers, back of the quilt, and valance for the window.
IKEA Somnat Crib.
We’re getting our crib from Ikea. Its the Lime green Somnat. It worked out perfectly that My Mum in Law and Little Sis in Law are flying in to Orlando for the Holiday and there just so happens to be an Ikea there for us to pick it up. I’m over the moon about getting the crib that I want and for such a great price. It is a nonconvertible crib, which is what I wanted due to us wanting to have more than one child.
All artwork for the walls is going to be original pieces drawn by me. My sketch pad has been by my side a lot lately plus it gives me something to do at doctors appointment and when I’m laying on the couch at night.
I have to put a few things on the back burner until Little Venom arrives. Like the Monogram letters, and adding a few gender specific things (and lets not for get the Tutu making if Venom turns out to be Miss Venom.) I’m adding a Link to my Nursery to do list under my Header so you can follow along with my Nursery related post and Progress.

Oh Monday Here You Are Again….

Oh, it’s Monday again.Where did the weekend go? It few by faster than a day in the life of my Sims (yup I’m a dork and play The Sims 2. Its an obsession and I can’t help it).I did enjoy my extra hour though, Mr. Sailor and I slept in,err… well kinda since Chi and the cats woke me up wanting food and to go out (Chi, not the cats). In better news Mr. Sailor and I only have a little over a week until our Big Important Ultrasound.  Hopefully Our little Villain cooperates and lets us see what He or She is. Then in 2 and a half weeks we’re moving…. again. I’m very excited about moving and can’t wait to be out of this tiny apartment (not that its really tiny but We had a 3 bedroom house before this.) So it will be spectacular to have my Sewing Studio back, err… kinda. Its still doubling as our guest room, as I can’t imagine making our family and friends share with Venom. We’ve got a busy holiday season and I hope I can survive it.

The Holidays are starting to show up everywhere, and while I don’t Celebrate Christmas, my family and friends(some) do. My to-do list seems to be getting longer… I may have to add it to the side to keep track of everything. First I’ll start with Packing….

Tata for now
